If there is one thing we learned from Bayelsa today, it is the truism that Ezenwo Nyesom Wike is a coward, while Governor Diri is who he says he is. Diri is the King Kong of the Niger Delta. This fact can no longer be contested; it is self-evident and true.

We have seen clearly that Nyesom Wike is a timid and fearful figure who attempts to mask his insecurities with braggadocious words. He is nothing short of a jelly-livered man who likes to sell a false image of bravery. To maintain this façade, he resorts to puffery, egotism, and boastfulness to hide the coward within him.

Wike, who believes he is lord over all, formed a ragtag group of nonentities called the New Associates. This group of mischief-makers set out with the sole mandate of destabilizing the entire Niger Delta.

First, they tested their might in Rivers State, where they tear-gassed the women and people of Abalama just to score a cheap political point. It was a disgraceful episode, where even Dax-Kelly openly denounced the Ijaws as a minority, endorsing Wike’s insult just to massage his ego.

Make no mistake: Governor Fubara had the resources to stop this event. He could have chosen the path of violence, but he opted for diplomacy out of the innate regard he still harbors for Wike. After all, Wike was once his boss, and Governor Fubara is not your everyday heartless politician; he is a man of conscience who still shows restraint due to the role Wike played in his life.

However, Wike mistook this diplomacy for cowardice and, during the event, boasted in these exact words: “They said I will not come, but I came!” and “How many are they? Why won’t we win? Who are they?”

Basking in the euphoria of that false victory in Abalama, Wike declared a full assault on Bayelsa, seeing himself as the champion of Capua, a warrior on a streak of conquest, and challenged Governor Diri. Diri wasted no time in responding, warning him very clearly not to come to Bayelsa.

Taking the hint, Wike changed his tactics and included President Tinubu’s image in his program. He wanted to use the president’s name to sneak into Bayelsa. But Diri doubled down and warned him sternly never to come anywhere near the state.

What was the result? Coward Wike chickened out and retreated. He abandoned ship, and the event was canceled and postponed to today, the 26th. However, Governor Diri did not release any further statements regarding this change of date. His silence spoke volumes and sent chills down Wike’s spine.

Confused, Wike held a media parley, attempting to discern Diri’s mindset. He called Diri a man without balls, hoping for a response, but Diri provided him with a dose of silence. That silence was enough to send shivers down the spine of coward Nyesom Wike.

On the 26th, Wike, the fearful man, sent his men to scout Bayelsa and assess the atmosphere. He parked his private jet in the Port Harcourt VIP wing, waiting for a signal. His men gathered in Bayelsa and began singing Wike’s praises in an open field. They even altered a Christian worship song, substituting God’s name with Wike’s. It was at that moment that gunshots thundered, causing everyone to flee.

Some left their shoes behind in the chaos. Wike heard the news and ran away too. Out of shock and fear, and to hoodwink his supporters, he redirected his private jet to Lagos, where he is currently cooling off to recover from the intimidation he experienced today from Diri, the King Kong of the Niger Delta.
