Navy Captain Olubolade is known to have laid the foundation for governance in Bayelsa, having put in place some of the most basic infrastructure to begin the process of development in the virgin state. Within a space of one year, he left a lasting legacy for successive governments in Bayelsa to build upon.
“We will continue to invest in very critical areas of human capacity building, particularly in our youths via sports development, and also in the health of our people. There is no investment that is too much in these areas and several others.
“The Governor Diri Scrabble Championship was the focus for scrabble players across the world as it was going on in the Bayelsa capital. We succeeded in introducing technology to positively showcase Bayelsa and the governor’s contribution to human capacity development”
His likeness for me also stemmed from the fact that I had proved to him my mettle and integrity following an incident of honour that need not be elaborated here. He personally told me on one occasion – “you are a very honest man”.
