Lawmaker Appeals for Calm Following Murder of Final Year Student

Hon. Felix E. Bonny Ayah, representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, has called for calm in the wake of the brutal murder of a final year student of Niger Delta University (NDU) in the Amassoma community.

During a visit to the authorities of Niger Delta University (NDU) and the Amassoma Council of Chiefs, the lawmaker, represented by Evang. Parkins Ogede, immediate past Vice Chairman of Southern Ijaw LGA, condemned the killing of Francis Paleowei, a final year student in the department of Political Science.

Expressing condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased student, the Lawmaker pleaded with other students to remain calm as the police and other security agencies are making efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

He stated that both the community and school authorities are closely collaborating with security agencies to prevent a recurrence of such a heinous incident. He further assured that security personnel have initiated an investigation into the murder, with the aim of bringing those responsible for this atrocious act to justice.
