Tricycle rider beaten to death with stones for murdering passenger

In Bayelsa State, a tricycle operator was killed by a mob in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa after allegedly stabbing a young man to death during an argument over N50 change on Wednesday.  The victim died immediately, and the Keke rider was subsequently attacked.

Erevision MediaTV learned that the mob action was a result of the alleged stabbing to death of a young man by the tricycle operator, who is also known as “Keke” rider.

The argument over N50 change between the two individuals escalated into a violent altercation.

Angered by his action, some residents around the scene attacked and lynched the Keke rider to death with stones.

The identities of the deceased men could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the incidents.

The command, in a statement by its spokesperson, Asinim Butswat, also condemned the murder of the youth by the Keke rider as well as his lynching.

He said, “The Bayelsa State Police Command has deployed an anti-riot squad to restore normalcy at Kpansia and environs, over the unfortunate murder of a community youth by a tricycle rider.

“The youth was allegedly stabbed to death by the tricycle rider over a minor disagreement.

“The Command condemns the action of the tricycle rider, who was also lynched to death by irate youths and appeal to members of the community to be calm.
