I know firsthand that retirement is a major change in life, and it is not a time to simply sit at home and relax without any engagement. Try to stay as active as possible. We all should strive for a healthy retirement because it is not something we achieve solely by our own efforts. Many of your colleagues started this journey with you but unfortunately, they are no longer here. So, it is truly a special gift from God for you to retire successfully after 35 years of service.”
She continued, “Once again, I congratulate all of you who have retired. I also extend my thanks to the wives of the retired staff for their support during this period. To those who are not retired yet, let us pray that we also reach the retirement age or service duration.”
In her welcome address, State Director Mrs. Evelyn Micah expressed her congratulations to the retirees and acknowledged the hard work they put into serving the nation for 35 years or until reaching 60 years of age. She recognized that although they may be retired from their civil service roles, they are not tired in their approach to life. Mrs. Micah wished them the very best in their future endeavors and hoped they would not only enjoy the fruits of their labor but also live long enough to savor them.
Former State Director of the National Population Commission, Mr. Robinson Ere Erebi, delivered a goodwill message, reflecting on the appointed time to retire from active service. He emphasized that even though the retirees are ending their tenure, they are not weary. Mr. Erebi thanked God for protecting them throughout their dedicated service and prayed for new opportunities to arise as they transition into their new lives as private senior citizens.
Furthermore, Mr. Erebi expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Honorable Nasir Isa Kwarra, for providing them with opportunities and a conducive environment that made their years of service fulfilling and memorable. He particularly commended Honorable Federal Commissioner Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo for her effective administration and exemplary leadership. He acknowledged her successful efforts in areas such as staff recruitment, training, and welfare. Additionally, he praised her for fostering a beneficial relationship between the Commission and the State government, resulting in significant achievements during various census activities. He expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and the State office management for organizing a remarkable send-off party and providing valuable gifts to celebrate their meritorious service.
