The Chairman of Ogboin North Rural Development Authority, High Chief Francis Aguobiri Timiebidikumo, has called on the residents of Ogboin North Local Government Area to maintain peace during the upcoming Amassoma Seigben Festival and 20th Coronation Anniversary of HRM King Oweipa Jones-Ere III.

During a security and peace meeting held in Amassoma on Thursday with regards to the ongoing chieftaincy tussle between Chief Godswill Akedesuo and Chief Carpet Bate Tamkunu, Chief Aguobiri emphasized the importance of peace during the festive period.

In tune with the festival theme “Ozozona,” meaning collective understanding, the Chairman urged both parties to uphold peace in the spirit of the occasion and in the interest of security in Amassoma.

Following the meeting, High Chief Francis Aguobiri stated that the outcomes were resolved amicably, ensuring that the peace he called for would be upheld. He emphasized that only one vigilante should operate in Amassoma and that the chieftaincy matter should be left to the court for a final verdict.

“We have resolved that they’ll ensure the peace that we called for. In terms of the chieftaincy matter, I think I don’t have the authority to say who should be Amananaowei since the matter is in court. The court will give us the final verdict and that’s how we resolved the matter, and they’ve all agreed to sue for peace. Let peace reign”, he said.

The RDA Chairman also warned all concerned individuals that any security breach during this time would be held against them.

Representing the Divisional Police Officer at the meeting, Mr. Francis Nwigbarale in his address, stressed the importance of unity for the security of the community, stating that a divided house cannot stand.

Mr. Nwigbarale who is also the Divisional Crime Officer, advised the chieftains to refrain from inciting violence or causing problems within the community.

“We can’t fold our hands to see you destroying Amassoma community with thugs or whatever group, irrespective of who’s behind it. So my advise to you is that, we’re all fathers, maintain peace in this community”.

“Keep your differences and concentrate on peace in this land, Don’t stir up problem in the community. Don’t have thugs or stir up thug gangs that fight against your opponents, please, please and please. I take God beg una!”, he said.

The meeting was attended by several community leaders, including HRH Godwill Akedesuo, HRH Carpet Bate Tamkunu, HRH Wilphant P. Tonweriyoi, HRH Christopher Atagboro, Eteimo John Ayah, Bolou W. Sobai, Ogbofa Timipamene, Pereokosifa Miebi, and Mr. Ebitimi Lewis, among others.
