The announcement was made on Tuesday in a Special Government Announcement signed by Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy.
Koku-Obiyai said the decision prohibits Community Development Committees (CDCs), youth organizations, and other related groups from imposing or collecting levies from investors and property developers.
“This is part of the government’s commitment to fast-track development, reduce the burden on investors, and promote economic growth,” she said.
She added that while companies will no longer be compelled to pay development levies, they are still expected to carry out corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in line with regulations from relevant agencies.
The government urged full compliance with the directive.
