First on the list is human capital development, including education. Sylva emphasized the need to develop the capacity of the people of Bayelsa State.
Next, Sylva plans to focus on infrastructure development in Bayelsa, which he believes is lacking in the state.
The third point of Sylva’s agenda is to develop an economy for Bayelsa, centered around gas production. The state, according to Sylva, has the highest deposit of gas in Nigeria, making the development of a gas economy viable.
Sylva also plans to focus on agriculture, specifically rice production and fishery. Bayelsa, according to Sylva, has a lot of swamps which make it ideal for rice production. The Peremabiri Rice Farm which was designed to produce rice for the whole of Nigeria and West Africa but has been abandoned, is also located in Bayelsa.
Stabilizing power is the fifth point on Sylva’s agenda, understanding that a stable source of power is crucial for economic growth. He plans to work with the Federal Government to stabilize power in Bayelsa using the gas produced in the state.
Finally, Sylva’s agenda also includes ensuring security in the state, which he believes is crucial to achieving the other goals listed on the agenda.
Sylva believes that with his six-point plan and his years of experience, he is the best candidate to lead Bayelsa State into a new phase of growth and development.
