Today, a significant decision was made regarding a case brought forth by the First Respondent, Deme Kolomo. The court ruled that Kolomo is not an aspirant Chief Timipre Sylva in the upcoming Bayelsa Governorship elections and therefore does not have the legal standing to institute the case.

In a statement by APC Lawyer Barr. Benjamin S. Ogbara said the court addressed the issue of whether a party has the power to initiate legal action.

In this particular case, the court found that the First Respondent lacked the locus standi, or legal standing, to bring the case before the lower court. As a result, the court determined that it did not have the jurisdiction to entertain the case.

In its decision, the Appeal Court emphasized that it cannot exercise jurisdiction where the lower court lacks it. As a result, the court allowed the appeal and held that it was meritorious. Additionally, the court awarded a cost of 1 million Naira to the Appellant.

This decision has important implications for the upcoming elections and highlights the importance of legal standing when bringing forth a case before the court.
