In a move signaling Bayelsa State’s dedication to promoting regional unity through culture, the Honourable Commissioner for Culture, Hon. Keku Godpower, on Friday received the Bayelsa State Coordinator of the Niger Delta Festival for Arts and Culture (NIDEFEST), Mr. Task Brownson, and his delegation on a courtesy visit to the Ministry.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Culture headquarters, was attended by key stakeholders including the Permanent Secretary, Madam Tonye Koroye, and the Director of Human Resources Management Department, Mrs. Hauwa Collins Daniel.
Discussions centered on the state’s preparations and active participation in the much-anticipated NIDEFEST 2025, scheduled to take place in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from October 28th to 31st. The festival, which will bring together all states of the Niger Delta, aims to celebrate the region’s diversity through cultural displays, traditional music and dance, artistic performances, and indigenous craftsmanship.
Hon. Godpower expressed the Ministry’s strong commitment to ensuring Bayelsa’s culture is not only represented but showcased with pride and excellence. “This festival is a vital platform to reaffirm our identity and build bridges of unity through culture. Bayelsa is ready to contribute meaningfully to the success of NIDEFEST 2025,” he said.
Mr. Brownson commended the Ministry for its enthusiasm and pledged continued collaboration in preparation for the event. With growing excitement and inter-state support, NIDEFEST 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark celebration of the Niger Delta’s rich heritage.
