Igali, who joined Dr. Eruani in welcoming Former President Goodluck Jonathan GCFR on a tour of the Azikel Group’s facilities on Monday, described the project as a game-changer for Bayelsa, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria at large.
The visit began at the company’s corporate headquarters in Swali, Yenagoa, where the management team showcased two brand-new helicopters—a Bell 505 and an Alpha 2025 Augusta 109 SP Elite Configuration—acquired to boost operational efficiency.
The delegation later embarked on an inaugural flight to the Azikel Refinery project site, where an on-the-spot assessment revealed significant progress on the facility, which stands as the first and only condensate hydro-skimming refinery in the entire African sub-region.

When operational, Igali stated that the refinery will produce about five million liters of premium petroleum products daily, including Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK), aviation fuel, and heavy fuel oil. He added that this positions it alongside the Dangote Refinery as one of only two facilities in Nigeria capable of producing PMS alongside a full range of other petroleum products.
Igali emphasized that the economic and social impact of the refinery would be far-reaching, boosting Bayelsa’s internally generated revenue, creating jobs for the youth, stimulating local enterprise, and strengthening the economic foundation of the region.

He praised Dr. Eruani’s boldness, patriotism, and determination, noting that the project not only enhances Nigeria’s energy security but also cements Bayelsa’s place as a hub for innovation and industrial advancement.
