Douye Diri, delivered a powerful and uplifting message during the 2024 Crossover Praise and Worship Night.

His words resonated deeply with the gathered crowd, echoing the sentiments of resilience and unity as they bid farewell to the challenges of the previous year while embracing a future filled with promise.
Reflecting on a Memorable Year
Governor Diri’s address began with a candid reflection on the trials and tribulations of 2024. “We have gone through the thick and thin in 2024,” he stated, acknowledging the economic hardships and struggles that many faced throughout the year. However, what stood out was the optimistic tone he struck when he declared that 2025 would not be worse than its predecessor.
He called upon the citizens of Bayelsa to look back not merely at the suffering but also to identify the lessons learned and the good moments experienced. “Economic hardship will become history. Our fallen currency will become history,” he expressed, invoking a sense of faith and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
A New Covenant for the New Year
In a fascinating transition from mere intentions to a profound declaration, the Governor unveiled what he designated as “our covenant for 2025.” Drawing inspiration from Psalm 2:4, he proclaimed, “He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision.”

This verse resonated with the audience, serving both as a reassurance of divine oversight and a reminder that those who wish harm upon the state will ultimately meet failure. “God will laugh at those who plot against our state,” he affirmed, providing a powerful reassurance that the future of Bayelsa remains in divine hands.
Faith and Prosperity: A Message to the People
His Excellency implored the people of Bayelsa to embrace their identity as the anointed of God, reinforcing the belief that they are divinely chosen and protected. “You are anointed,” the Governor declared, invoking the biblical promise of protection against adversity. His message was one of empowerment and encouragement, urging the citizens to pursue their endeavors with confidence because with faith, “whatever you put your hands to, God will prosper you.”
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of unity and positivity within the community, discouraging any plots of negativity or dissent. “We do not need to plot evil against anyone. If you do, this covenant will catch up with you,” he warned, underscoring the themes of solidarity and collective growth among the citizens of Bayelsa.
Looking Forward: A Brighter Path Ahead
As the evening drew to a close, the Governor’s heartfelt thanks and blessings for the people of Bayelsa left an indelible mark on those present. His declaration that they are “the anointed of God” resonated with many, instilling a renewed sense of purpose and hope for the future.

In the spirit of 2025, the citizens of Bayelsa leave the difficulties of the past behind, empowered by faith, community, and a covenant with God that promises prosperity, stability, and unstoppable progress. With the encouragement of their leaders and their collective strength, Bayelsa stands poised for an era of growth and success, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities the new year will undoubtedly bring.
