One basic indices that swing like pendulum in the heart of Governor Douye Diri was how best he would provide stable electricity supply in the state capital, which brought the idea of 60MWS Power Plant.
The intention of the Bayelsa state government is aimed at satisfying and to guarantee constant power supply that will boost commercial, social and industrial activities in the state capital and its environs.
This will minimize the control of inherent noise and air pollution which are created by smaller petrol and diesel engine during power outage.
The vision of the state governor on this laudable project is further to create employment opportunity for the citizens and occupants of the state. This new power plant is to reduce the load problem by enabling the redeployment of power which previously consumed in some parts of the state to the newly constructed network.
One basic priority of governor Douye Diri is to provide stable electricity supply, provision of infrastructural development and well being of the citizens.

Inline with the enabling laws in the country Nigeria, recently, the state and federal government activates the process of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to ascertain the possible effect and how to mitigate on such effect and come up with possible benefits to those catchment areas especially Elebele and Kpansia communities. The community representatives were excited and expressed their desires to ensure that the project see the light of the day.
The project which is under the direct supervision of the Bayelsa Electricity Company Limited, headed by Electrical and Electronic Engineer, Olice Dickson Kemenanabo who has been working assiduously to meet the record time for the project.
Engineer Steve Bubagha Jnr, Director of Operations of the Bayelsa Electricity Company Limited, an erudite Engineer who explained with verse knowledge of the Twin Turbines said, these are plug and play turbines. He further explained to the visiting team who were on spot assessment of the project, said the components of the Turbine engine are already built in abroad and what left was to build the necessary structures on site before their final arrival.
During presentation session, Engineer Steve Bubagha Jnr., highlights on various components which include; two units of trailer mounted (TM2500) Gas Turbines, two units of Oil-Immersed 35MVA, ONAN/ONAF Power Transformers, 7-20 MMSCFUD Twin Pressure Reducing and Metering Skid, 24″ Gas Tie-in Valve at the Elebele Manifold, Gas Pipeline and Accessories, Control Room to House power, Control and Monitoring Equipment, 33KV switch gears to interface between Generator and overhead lines, 3D Model of the power station and A Cathodic protection system to check. These are the verifiable components required for the new Gas Turbine station situated in Elebele area.

This project will grow businesses and give room for healthy competition with other service providers, thereby checking power supply and unnecessary billings without meters in the state.
With this development, every right thinking minds should support such initiative by the state government to end epileptic calamity of steady power supply were investors could do business conviniently and to make the local economy to grow rapidly.
The Technical Adviser to Governor Douye Diri on Print Media/Public Affairs, Senior Comrade Wisdom Ikuli who further conducted Journalists around the site commended the governor for his foresight in executing such laudable project as this will cushion the effect of incessant power outage in the state.
