The Member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Felix E. Bonny Ayah, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon. Ayah made the announcement shortly after Governor Douye Diri’s own resignation from the party, marking a significant political development within Bayelsa State’s ruling circle.

According to the lawmaker in a letter dated October 20, 2025, his decision followed extensive consultations with his family, political leaders, associates, and supporters across his constituency. He noted that while it had been an honour to serve under the platform of the PDP, recent events within the party made his continued membership untenable.

“It was an honour to provide quality and effective representation for my constituents and contribute to the growth and development of our state through the PDP,” Hon. Ayah stated.

He explained that the lingering internal leadership crisis within the PDP had eroded his confidence in the party’s capacity to function effectively and uphold the principles of democracy and good governance.

Hon. Ayah expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for their past support and for giving him the opportunity to serve in various capacities, while reaffirming his commitment to the progress and development of his constituency and Bayelsa State at large.
