If Isaac Adaka Boro Were Alive Today: A Painful Question for the Ijaw Nation’s Leaders

Dear Ateke Tom, Asari Dokubo, Kingsley Kuku, Government Tompolo, and the leadership of IYC, INC, MEND, PANDEF, and others; this question is asked with deep pain and sincere concern. If you were to stand today before the late Isaac Adaka Boro, would he be proud of the current state of the Ijaw Nation? Would he look at our land, our politics, and our people and feel that his sacrifice was honored?

Boro did not rise for personal influence, political alignment, or selective benefits. He stood for justice, collective dignity, and the freedom of his people. Yet today, the Ijaw Nation appears fragmented, while Rivers State bleeds under political manipulation, silence, and power struggles that have little to do with the welfare of the ordinary people. The question many are afraid to ask is whether comfort has replaced courage, and compromise has replaced conviction.

This moment in history demands reflection. Silence from influential voices is not neutrality but it shapes outcomes. When the people suffer and leaders remain quiet or divided, history takes note. Rivers State is bleeding, and the Ijaw Nation stands at a crossroads.

If Isaac Adaka Boro were alive today, would he say the struggle continues with purpose, or would he ask whether he died for nothing? The answer lies not in words, but in actions taken now for unity, justice, and the future of the Ijaw people. Egberi fa gha oh.
