The Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area Hon. Target Isaiah Segibo, through the Governor’s directive, cancels any further meetings and processes billed to hold tomorrow, 4th August, 2024, in Amassoma by 2pm at the community townhall.

The Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Hon. Target Segibo has directed the cancelation of any meeting slated at the behest of all interest parties in the Amassoma Traditional stool saga.
The Executive Chairman gave the directive in addendum to a mandate by the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri.
Mr Chairman said the injunction is as a result of government’s bid to forestall further escalation of the lingering factional disputes which had been embroiled in disagreement and prevailed between interest parties, thus bringing to a deadlock of all procedures to install the traditional ruler in the community aforetime.
The Chairman, therefore, enjoin all and sundry, mediating hitherto in the matter to wait for further directive, as government will adopt the laws guiding Chieftancy and Traditional Rulers establishment in conducting a transparent and lawful transition process to usher in a new traditional ruler in the community.
