The lawmaker representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, has called on the people of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Prosperity Agenda of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, to enable the administration achieve its set goals.

Hon. Ambaiowei made the call while speaking with journalists during a New Year get-together he organised for his constituents on January 1, 2026, in Yenagoa.
The lawmaker, who freely interacted with his constituents—dining, wining and dancing with them at the event—said the annual gathering had become a tradition aimed at fostering unity and gratitude to God.
“We have always made December 25 and January 1 available for our constituents to have a get-together with us. The essence is to thank God and praise Him,” he said.
Delivering his goodwill message to the people of Southern Ijaw, Hon. Ambaiowei urged them to rally behind Governor Diri’s administration.
“My goodwill message for the people of Southern Ijaw is that the Douye Diri Renewed Hope Prosperity Agenda is on course. Let us support Governor Douye Diri,” he stated.
Commending the governor’s performance, the federal lawmaker highlighted key infrastructural projects being executed across the state.
“Governor Douye Diri has done so much for us. Look at the three senatorial roads he is tirelessly constructing to ensure a ring road across the entire state. He has also done a lot in the area of electricity,” Ambaiowei noted.
He further praised the governor’s commitment to service, citing his personal involvement in ensuring steady power supply during the festive period.
“Imagine the governor going out on Christmas Eve to ensure that there was electricity for Bayelsans. Many leaders cannot do that. That is selfless service. Honestly, when I see some of the things he does, I am amazed by the scale and commitment with which he is driving these projects,” he said.
Hon. Ambaiowei urged the people of Southern Ijaw to set aside internal disputes and focus on collective progress.
“What we owe Governor Douye Diri and the Bayelsa State Government is support. Let us shelve chieftaincy crises, oil-related disputes and other distractions, and work together to support him to deliver the dividends of democracy and the Renewed Hope Prosperity Agenda to Bayelsa State,” he appealed.
He concluded by reaffirming his call for unity and cooperation in the new year.
“In 2026, I urge my constituents in Southern Ijaw to continue supporting Governor Douye Diri so that he can achieve the desired goals for the state,” Ambaiowei said.
