The Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, presided over the session where the Technical Adviser on Treasury, Accounts and Revenue, Mr. Timipre Seipulou, read out the financial details for three months covering November and December 2023 as well as January, 2024.
Mr. Ebibai, said the finances of the state remain in healthy condition as government in the last four years has carried out its legitimate responsibilities in the overall interest of the people.
Also, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayiba Duba, assured that the administration would continue to uphold transparency and accountability.
“This transparency briefing is going to be the last of the first tenure of the Prosperity Government.
As you all know, the first tenure is ending on the 14th of February, 2024. And that same day, the second tenure will start. By Sunday, 11th of February, 2024, the programmes for the swearing-in will start, with a Thanksgiving at the Ecumenical center. On the 13th, we are commissioning the Igbogene-AIT outer ring road. Then on the 14th, is the big day, where the Governor and Deputy Governor will be sworn in for second term at the Samson Siasia Stadium. There will be dinner in the evening of the 14th.
For today, we just want to let you know that this government has kept faith with its transparency. We have been transparent as possible. We have not failed to tell the public, Bayelsans and Nigerians of the fact of what we are doing. We have always maintained that we are just custodians of the people’s common wealth. We said we are not going to play politics with the development of Bayelsa State, and we have kept to it”, Hon. Duba stated.
Other top government functionaries at the briefing are; Accountant-General of the State, Tokoni Ifidi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Ebimobowei Wodu, and Director-General, Bayelsa New Media, Dr. Kolawole Oredipe.
