The Ondo State Chairman of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Mr. Ogonobibi Ominido, has expressed deep appreciation to the National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, for his sustained contributions to the development of the Niger Delta and the upliftment of Ijaw people across the country.

In a heartfelt message of gratitude, Mr. Ominido recalled how Amb. Igali, during his tenure as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), personally introduced him to the institution’s Registrar—an intervention that has since opened doors of academic opportunity for many Ijaw sons and daughters.

According to Ominido, the connection facilitated by Amb. Igali has translated into dozens of admissions for Ijaw applicants over several academic sessions.
He noted that almost 30 Ijaw applicants gained admission in the 2021/2022 academic session, about 20 in 2022/2023, 12 in 2023/2024, over 15 in 2024/2025, and about 12 in the current 2025/2026 session.

“In total, by my computation, over eighty of our Ijaw sons and daughters have secured admissions through the grace God gave you,” Ominido said, describing Amb. Igali’s impact as both life-changing and God-inspired.

He further prayed that as PANDEF Chairman, God would continue to empower Amb. Igali with the wisdom and strength to steer the Niger Delta toward lasting development, peace, and prosperity.

Ominido also referenced ongoing employment applications by Ijaw candidates at FUTA, appealing for Amb. Igali’s continued assistance, especially given his past role as the university’s Governing Board Chairman.

Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali—fondly known as the Ibetariowei of Izon land—is widely celebrated as a distinguished diplomat, intellectual, philanthropist, and statesman. His contributions to education, regional advocacy, and the broader Niger Delta struggle remain deeply admired across the region.

His influence, as highlighted by Ominido, continues to open doors and create opportunities for young Ijaw professionals and students, further cementing his legacy as a committed champion of the Niger Delta cause.
