Speaking during a tour of project sites by members of the Bayelsa Government New Media team and practicing journalists in Yenagoa, Mrs. Koku-Obiyai remarked that the Bayelsa State government is focused on positively impacting the lives of the people through people-oriented projects across the state.
Among the projects visited by the team, led by the Director-General of New Media, Dr. Kolawole Oredipe, were the Toru-Ebeni-Okumbiri-Amatolo-Kabeama-Bolou-Orua road, Glory Drive Phase 3, the Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road, and the New Yenagoa City.
Regarding the Toru-Ebeni-Bolou-Orua road, the Information Commissioner, Mrs. Koku-Obiyai, stated that the communities benefiting from the road have waited for years. She emphasized that Governor Diri’s commitment to development has resulted in the approval of the construction, which is progressing well. She assured that this project, along with others ongoing in the state, will reach a logical conclusion.
She urged the people to keep faith with the state government and support its policies and programs, assuring them that Governor Diri’s administration will not let the people of Bayelsa State down.
Additionally, DG New Media, Dr. Oredipe, reiterated Governor Diri’s commitment to connecting rural communities by road.
Dr. Oredipe stated that the continuation of the three senatorial roads by Governor Diri is a clear indication that the government is focused on linking as many rural communities as possible to Yenagoa.
He noted that the Spur to Otuan community, which was not part of the original project, was graciously approved by Governor Diri due to his dedication to the people and his commitment to connecting rural communities to the state capital.
Dr. Oredipe emphasized that upon completion, the three senatorial roads will transform the economic and social fortunes of the people, and he urged citizens to continue supporting the state government to do more.
In his remarks, Engineer Cliff Erebo, Director of Civil Works at the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, stated that Phase Three of the Glory Drive road is seven point eight kilometers long, with about two point five kilometers already completed up to the stone base level.
He noted that flooding had slowed down projects across the state but assured that ongoing projects would be delivered on schedule, given the current pace of work post-flood and the commitment of the state government.
The CCECC Project Manager, Engr. Karmelo Lee, reported that work on the bridge has reached 70 percent completion, with 16 out of the 17 pillars along River Nun erected.
Stakeholders from Otuan, including Chief Patrick Osunu, Samuel Atabai, and Prince Mathew, Community Liaison Officer for Oporoma Community, all expressed gratitude to Governor Diri for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District road. They insisted that even before its completion, the community is already benefiting from the project and assured that they would continue to support his administration.
