Presenting the Award in Abuja, the Director of the AWF Mr Emman Shehu described Sylva as ‘a noble promoter of the arts whose passion for literature is intense and true’
Shehu thanked Sylva for attending the February 2020 Guest Writer Session and commended Sylva, who is a poet himself at his free time, to keep up the good work of developing Nigerian literature.
Responding, Sylva thanked the AWF for the recognition and reminisced on his childhood dream of becoming a writer, a dream, Sylva believes, can be possible.
A press statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs Mr. Julius Bokoru says that Sylva who has dozens of unpublished collections of poems has sponsored the publication of many books, supported writing residencies and has encouraged many rising talents, especially in the literary sphere.
