In a letter dated 25th January 2025, the Commandant-General of the United Nigeria Chaplaincy, Chap. Gen. Dr. Chris Daniel, said on behalf of the National Executive Council that “the appointment is vividly focused on humanitarian services, peace advocacy, and emergency and traffic services, i.e., Fire, Road, and Water Services.”
While speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa about his appointment, the new Chaplain State Commandant of the United Nigeria Chaplaincy (UNC) in Bayelsa State, Mr. Ebikabowei Orusomu, said that his appointment is a call to contribute his quota to the development of Bayelsa State through the effective implementation of the mandate given to the Chaplaincy at the State level.
He emphasized that, apart from being a relatively new non-governmental organization in the State, the United Nigeria Chaplaincy is saddled with an important task that requires the support of well-meaning Bayelsans to thrive.
“My appointment letter says that my job is vividly a humanitarian one, and so, we depend on donations and our meagre monthly dues to run our activities at the National level, such as the last National Peace Summit held on January 24, 2025.”
“Our scope of operations also cover general peace mission and anti conflict management, Special Peace Squad for security, protection and defence for affected communities, and general assistance to other paramilitary organisations where they may lack manpower.”

“For us in Bayelsa State, we hope to work in collaboration with the state and local government councils to contribute our quota to the overall development of Bayelsa State.”
“On behalf of the Bayelsa State Commandant, let me use this medium to congratulate and commend our dear Governor, His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri, for his unprecedented development strides in infrastructural development and security, which have made Bayelsa one of the fastest developing states in Nigeria.”
“As peace advocates, we are particularly happy and also commend him for maintaining peace in the State since the inception of his administration, as well as his deliberate efforts at uniting Ijaws all over the Niger Delta. It is our fervent prayer that he will support the UNC in Bayelsa State whenever the need arises, as he is doing with similar organizations in the State,” he enthused.
