…As Oro Students’ Union Worldwide Holds 2023 students summit
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Over the weekend, Oro Students’ Union Worldwide (the apex Students body in Oro Nation) held her maiden 2023 Oro Students Summit with the theme “Quality Education and Skill Acquisition: A Pathway to Sustainable and Self-Reliance.”
The Summit which held at the Oron Civic Centre in Akwa Ibom State on Friday 28th July, 2023 featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Asukwo Uya, unveiling of the maiden Lagacy magazine of the union, presentation of academic grant to 20 deserving Oro students studying in various higher institutions across the country by Universal Energy, scholarship to 11 engineering students by the Grace Osung Foundation, award presentation to some deserving Oro patriots.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mrs Arit Etim who represented Universal Energy congratulated the beneficiaries whom she said, demonstrated academic excellence to deserve their meritorious selection.
Emphasizing why beneficiaries must fully utilize the opportunity, Dr. Mrs Arit Etim urged them to excel in their studies and make positive impact in their respective fields as well as be good ambassadors of Oro Nation.
Dr. Etim recounted how she was a beneficiary of Oro Union scholarship scheme which have cemented her commitment to the educational advancement of Oro Nation.
Inspired by her sterling love to see to it that Oro Nation advance educationally, she announced the donation of additional 5 scholarship in her personal capacity to the Students with one coming from each local government areas, an act that was highly applauded by students in the hall.
Earlier in his opening remark, the President of Oro Students Union Worldwide, Comrade Etim ETIM thanked and welcomed students to the summit. He went further to express his sincere appreciation to Dr. Arit Etim for facilitating the academic grant and the role she has played to make sure the Summit became a reality. He was full of praise to Engr. Elvis Osung for the Grace Osung Scholarship. He equally appreciated others Oro Patriot who pledged to support indigent students with scholarship and grant which include Chief Engr. Nsebong Essang, Engr. Bobby Onofiok, Engr. Akan Etim, Engr. Nsa Bassey, Mr. Emmanuel Odohodi and conclusively thanked the dignitaries who graced the event despite their busy schedule.
The Chancellor of Grace Osung Foundation, Dr. Monday Dickson, expressed deep appreciation to the scholarship committee for their diligent work in selecting deserving candidates. He assured of the Foundation’s commitment to expanding the scholarship scheme to encompass other professional courses.
In his goodwill message, the Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko LGA, His Royal Majesty, Odidem Bassey Etim Edet, thanked the Universal Energy, Grace Osung Foundation and Dr. Mrs Arit Etim for the gesture while congratulating the beneficiaries for a well-deserved award.
However, the Keynote Speaker used the occasion to drilled the students on the importance of quality education, skills acquisition, and networking with other professionals from Oro Nation and beyond in order to excel.
The event had in attendance the President of Oron Union, Bishop Etim Ante, who was represented by Mr Ini Essang, Dr. Mrs Arit Etim who represented Universal Energy, HRM Odidem Bassey Etim Edet the Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko, Chief Engr. Nseobong Essang, Dr Asukwo Uya, Arc. Otu Ita Toyo (Total Chair), Chief Dr. Edet Ambang represented by Mr. Victor Ekpe, former Dean Student Affairs Akwa Ibom State University, Dr. Monday Dickson, the Board of Trustees chairman of the OSU-WW, Comrade John Bassey, the pioneer BOT OSU-WW, Comrade Uwe Eyo, Comrade Ezekiel Ibok, Comrade Prince Asuquo Esifa, a representative of Engr Bobby Onofiok, Comrade Bishop Edemumoh, Comrade Prince Edenseting among others.
