The Paris Agreement is an international accord aimed at mitigating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels. The US withdrawal from the agreement means it will no longer be bound by its commitments to reduce emissions, which could have serious consequences for the environment and the economy. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the US has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement – it previously withdrew in 2020, but rejoined in 2021 under the Biden administration.
