Lawmaker Congratulates Richard Eriyai III on Becoming Amananaowei of Amassoma

Following the reported endorsement of His Royal Highness Chief Richard Frank Eriyai III as the new Amananaowei of Amassoma community by His Royal Majesty King Oweipa Jones Ere III, Ebenanaowei of Ogboin clan, Hon. Felix E. Bonny Ayah, the member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, congratulated Chief Eriyai on his coronation which was preceded by necessary traditional rites dating back to 2001.

In a press statement released by his Special Assistant on Media & Publicity, Mr. Enikioubi Ebipamene, Hon. Ayah expressed his unwavering commitment to standing for what is right and protecting the collective will and interests of the people of Amassoma. He acknowledged the potential misinterpretations arising from ignorance, sentiments, and personal interests, but remained steadfast in his dedication to the community.

Hon. Ayah extended his profound appreciation to His Royal Majesty King Oweipa Jones Ere III for endorsing Chief Richard Frank Eriyai as the new Amananaowei of Amassoma. He highlighted that this decision has rectified a long-standing chieftaincy crisis and brought peace to the community while upholding the will of the common Amassoma people.

“He is the choice of the people of Amassoma and the land,” Hon. Ayah stated, urging Chief Eriyai to lead with the fear of God and focus on progressing the community.

He acknowledged how past chieftaincy disputes have held Amassoma back and expressed gratitude to the Council of Chiefs, Youths, CDC, and Vigilante for supporting the correction of previous wrongs and urged them to maintain the current peace.

In addition to his continued dedication to embarking on community projects, Hon. Ayah pledged to build a fitting palace for the new Amananaowei and resume monthly stipends for members of the Council of Chiefs. He explained that the halt in stipends was due to the prolonged chieftaincy disputes and disunity within the community.

During the occasion, various community leaders expressed their appreciation to Hon. Felix E. Bonny Ayah for his support and defense of the truth. They commended his leadership qualities and advocated for his re-election or pursuit of higher leadership positions.
