YENAGOA — After 28 years of marriage, Asu Ekiye, popularly known as “The Prince of the Niger Delta,” has announced the end of his marriage to Kunemofa Asu.

Ekiye made the announcement in a public notice, describing the development as the conclusion of a deeply personal journey marked by years of growth, experience and reflection.
According to him, the marriage actually ended a year ago, but he deliberately chose to make the development public only after allowing time for perspective, clarity and quiet acceptance of the transition.
“Some chapters, however significant and memorable, eventually come to an end,” Ekiye stated, adding that he had chosen to close the chapter with grace, gratitude and dignity while looking ahead to the possibilities of a new season.
The announcement did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of the marriage, with Ekiye maintaining a restrained and dignified tone throughout the statement.
He said the decision to make the announcement a year after the marriage ended was deliberate, stressing that such a deeply personal transition deserved time and reflection.
