During a press conference held in Yenagoa, the group addressed the provocations instigated by a faction calling themselves the “New Associates,” who have attempted to align themselves with the Honourable Minister of the FCT, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, as their so-called grand patron.
In a statement signed by prominent figures within the organization, including Dr. Peregbe Isari Samuel (Director General), Engr. Austen Pabor (Executive Secretary), Hon. Lucky Agbalaje (Executive Director Admin/Finance), and Thorpe Okokoyoh Henry (Director Media), the Prosperity Movement expressed its strong condemnation of the recent violence connected with the New Associates’ mega rally, particularly the reckless shooting that took place along the Igbogene/Okolobiri road.
The group characterized this violence as an unwarranted attack aimed at undermining the peaceful legacy being cultivated by Governor Diri. They emphasized that such acts of aggression are not only unacceptable but are viewed as a calculated strategy to tarnish the reputation of a governor who has prioritized peace and harmony in Bayelsa.

Despite the disheartening incidents, the SDD/SLE Prosperity Movement reassured the people of Bayelsa that Governor Diri remains resolute in his mission. The governor is committed to delivering good governance, fostering progress, and upholding the welfare of Bayelsans. The movement emphasizes that petty distractions will not derail their shared goal of attaining prosperity for the state.
Further addressing the rogue actors within the political landscape, the group criticized George Turner and Ebilade Ekerefe for their misguided claims to leadership within the Bayelsa PDP Chapter. Their self-styled positions were portrayed as an affront to the party’s constitution, which they evidently do not grasp or respect. Remarkably, these individuals participated in a previous peaceful PDP Congress that adhered to party norms, thus undermining their current assertions.
The SDD/SLE Prosperity Movement has called for an apology from George Turner and his cohorts to Governor Diri, highlighting his reputation as a father figure devoted to the welfare of all Bayelsans. The movement pointed out that it is regrettable that individuals who previously benefited from the Prosperity Administration seek to undermine the government’s efforts following their removal from leadership roles due to unsatisfactory performance.

In closing, the Prosperity Movement for Bayelsa reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Governor Douye Diri, ensuring that the ongoing mission of prosperity, peace, and progress continues unimpeded. The resilience of the Bayelsan people, coupled with steadfast leadership, forms the backbone for a brighter future—one free from internal strife and political distractions.
