The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) joins the people of the South-South geopolitical zone and all well-wishers across Nigeria in celebrating two eminent statesmen—Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah—on the occasion of their milestone birthdays. Dr. Jonathan turns 68, while Obong Attah marks an inspiring 87 years.

We give thanks to Almighty God for granting both leaders long life, wisdom, and the rare opportunity to make profound contributions to national development. Their footprints in academia, architecture, governance, politics, and public service continue to shape Nigeria’s destiny in enduring ways. They stand tall among the country’s most distinguished leaders whose commitment to excellence inspires generations.
The Niger Delta region remains especially grateful for their consistent advocacy and far-reaching contributions to its progress, including the advancement of fiscal federalism, the strengthening of democratic institutions, and the landmark 13% derivation principle. Their dedication to justice, equity, and environmental remediation remains a beacon for ongoing efforts to ensure a fairer and more prosperous Nigeria.
As they begin another chapter in their remarkable lives, PANDEF prays for God’s continued blessings upon them. May they enjoy abundant health, peace, and joy. And may the promise of Scripture be fulfilled in them: “With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation” (Psalm 91:16).
