Ambassador Igali made the call in Yenagoa while speaking with EMTV News on the award conferred on him by the Amassoma Community, Port Harcourt Branch, during its end-of-year celebrations.
Amb. Godknows Igali, who is also the Ibetariowei of Izon Land and the Keynote Speaker at the event, congratulated the organisers and expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him.
“I am happy that they are able to organise themselves. Communities must organise themselves for development. That the Amassoma people in Port Harcourt can do this shows their seriousness and commitment,” he said.
“Amassoma is a big community—perhaps one of the biggest in the Ijaw nation—and it has produced many great men.”
He further urged the community to sustain the initiative.
“This is a tradition that must be sustained in unity, focus, and purpose to impact the community and the state. I congratulate them, and I feel honoured to have been given an award for my selfless service to society,” he added.
