Speaking at Ijaw House in Yenagoa, Kio expressed deep gratitude to God, members of the Council, and the wider Ijaw nation for their support throughout his leadership journey. He acknowledged that leadership is “never a solo performance, but a collective symphony,” commending fellow officers and stakeholders for their resilience and dedication.

Reflecting on his time in office, Kio noted that the Council navigated several challenges, including constitutional debates and institutional tensions, while maintaining a firm commitment to the collective interest of the Ijaw people.

“Our victories are not just in motions passed or meetings held,” he stated, “but in strengthening the voice and relevance of the NRC, upholding constitutional order, and reinforcing accountability in leadership.”

He emphasized that the true essence of leadership lies not in power or position, but in impact and responsibility. According to him, the NRC under his leadership preserved its legislative authority, strengthened internal processes, and enhanced its credibility within the INC framework.

Kio urged incoming leaders to build on the foundation laid, stressing that the future of the NRC must be “more institutional than personal, more visionary than reactive, and more united than divided.”

In his closing remarks, he left a guiding principle for future leaders:

“The true measure of leadership is not how long you lead, but how well you prepare others to lead after you.”

He reaffirmed his continued commitment to the growth of the institution and the progress of the Ijaw nation.
