APC Releases Timetable, Fixes Presidential Primary for May 15–16 Ahead of 2027 Elections

Abuja, Nigeria — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially unveiled its schedule of activities and timetable for the 2027 general elections, setting the stage for a series of party processes beginning in April 2026 and culminating in primaries across all elective positions in May 2026.

According to the timetable issued by the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the process commenced with the notice of election to state chapters on April 20, 2026. This is followed by the sale of nomination forms at the APC National Secretariat from April 25 to May 2, 2026.

The party fixed May 4, 2026, as the deadline for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents by aspirants seeking to contest under its platform.

Screening of aspirants for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions is scheduled to hold from May 6 to May 8, while presidential aspirants will be screened on May 9, 2026. The publication of screening results for all categories is slated for May 11, with appeals to be entertained between May 12 and May 13.

The timetable further reveals that the APC presidential primary election will take place between May 15 and May 16, 2026. Primaries for other positions will follow in quick succession: House of Representatives on May 18, Senate on May 20, State Houses of Assembly on May 21, and governorship on May 23.

Appeals arising from the primaries are scheduled to be heard between May 18 and May 25, depending on the office contested.

In addition to the timetable, the party also released details of the cost of nomination forms for aspirants. Presidential aspirants are required to pay a total of ₦100 million, comprising ₦30 million for expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination. Governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million, while senatorial hopefuls are to pay ₦20 million. The cost for House of Representatives and State Assembly seats stands at ₦10 million and ₦6 million respectively.

The APC, however, provided concessions for certain categories of aspirants. Female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities are required to pay only for the expression of interest form and 50 percent of the nomination fee.

The timetable was signed by the APC National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, who urged interested aspirants to adhere strictly to the outlined schedule.

The release of the timetable signals the formal commencement of internal party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political stakeholders begin to position themselves for various elective offices across the country.
