Igali conveyed his condolences in a letter dated October 19, 2026, addressed to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at Government House, Asaba.

In the letter, the PANDEF chairman expressed shock over the death of the former governor, whom he described as a beloved brother, close associate and personal friend.

“I write to express my total shock at the news of the passing into glory of our dearly beloved brother, the former Governor of Delta State, HE Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan,” Igali stated.

While acknowledging the pain of the loss, he noted that the bereaved must find comfort in their faith in God.

“Although we mourn, but we all hold strong belief that the Almighty God knows best, and we glorify His exalted name,” he added.

IGALI RECALLS CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH UDUAGHAN

Reflecting on their longstanding relationship, Igali recalled that he and Uduaghan served simultaneously as Secretaries to their respective state governments, a period during which they maintained a cordial relationship that endured until the former governor’s death.

According to him, Uduaghan was an exceptional leader whose commitment to the development and welfare of the people of Delta State remained unwavering.

“Without doubt, he was an exceptional man through and through, whose commitment to the people of Delta State was unfettered,” Igali said.

He particularly highlighted Uduaghan’s contributions to peace and stability in the Niger Delta during his tenure as Secretary to the Delta State Government and later as governor, when the region experienced heightened militant activities.

Igali noted that the former governor played a significant role in efforts to restore peace and stability to the region during that challenging period.

A LOSS TO THE NIGER DELTA AND NIGERIA

The PANDEF chairman described Uduaghan’s death as a major loss extending beyond Delta State to the entire Niger Delta and the country.

He expressed hope that the former governor’s contributions to public service and humanity would remain a lasting source of inspiration.

“Indeed, this is a big loss not only to Delta State, but to Niger Delta and the country at large,” he stated.

Igali further prayed that Uduaghan’s legacy of service to God and humanity would endure, noting that his name had been firmly established in the region’s history.

Quoting Philippians 4:7 of the Bible, he offered words of spiritual comfort to the bereaved family and the people of Delta State.

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus,” he quoted.

EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY, DELTA STATE

Igali requested that his deepest condolences be conveyed to the entire Uduaghan family and the people of Delta State as they mourn the former governor.

He concluded his letter with a prayer for the peaceful repose of the deceased, saying, “May his soul find eternal rest in the bosom of our Lord.”

The condolence message underscores the personal relationship between the two former public officials and recognises Uduaghan’s contributions to governance and peacebuilding in the Niger Delta.
