The South-South Governors Forum (SSGF) has expressed strong solidarity with first-term governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s scheduled governorship primaries holding on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, the forum commended the governors for what it described as visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to the development of their respective states.
According to the statement, the SSGF acknowledged the governors’ contributions to grassroots development, economic growth, and the overall advancement of governance across the country.
“As first-term governors, they have demonstrated visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the progress of their states,” the forum stated.
The forum further praised the governors for recording significant achievements in critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare.
“The forum is proud of the achievements of our brother-governors as champions of grassroots development and economic growth of our country,” Governor Diri said.
The statement added that the governors had remained consistent in driving tangible transformation in their states, noting that a second term in office would further consolidate development efforts and deepen economic prosperity.
“The forum believes that their second term in office would result in greater infrastructural and economic prosperity of their states and Nigeria as a whole,” the statement added.
On behalf of the South-South Governors Forum, Governor Diri wished the APC governors peaceful and successful primaries, expressing confidence that democratic principles would prevail during the exercise.
“We are certain that democratic ideals will triumph and their exceptional service will be rightfully rewarded by the APC faithful,” he stated.
