The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State Sen. Douye Diri has received the New Telegraph Newspaper’s 2023 Governor of the Year Award in the Human Capacity Development category.

Other awardees, include his Brother-Governors of Lagos, Enugu, Bauchi, Gombe and Kebbi states as well as top public servants, corporate organisations and individuals.
Writing on his verified Facebook Page, Sen. Douye Diri said: “I was represented at the event by my dependable deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo”.
“It is gratifying that our modest effort at re-defining the socio-economic wellbeing of our people in Bayelsa State is resonating beyond our borders and attracting recognition and honour”.
“Our policies and emphasis on skills acquisition, technical and vocational education, ICT development and provision of monthly grants to small scale businesses in our state are not only gaining ground but also reshaping the narrative about our state”.
