In an exclusive interview with Erevision MediaTV’s Editor-In-Chief Mr. Robinson Erebi, High Chief Aguobiri Francis, Chairman of Ogboin North Rural Development Authority (RDA) in Amassoma, gave insights to the state of developments in Bayelsa State and the forthcoming local government elections billed to be conducted on April 6, 2024.

Ewhrudjakpo Lawrence in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and specifically in Amassoma. He emphasizes the government’s focus on improving security in the area, particularly due to the presence of a state-owned university, Niger Delta University. Efforts have been made to tackle drug abuse in the community, leading to a significant reduction in drug-related crimes. Additionally, the government has invested in infrastructure development, with the RDA overseeing projects such as providing much-needed classroom furniture to primary schools.
Regarding Amassoma’s development, High Chief Aguobiri mentions the community’s transformation into an urban area and compares it to a small London. The government has prioritized enhancing the quality of life in Amassoma, with notable improvements in street lighting, making the community vibrant both day and night. He reveals that numerous projects are in the pipeline, awaiting the swearing-in of the governor’s Executive Council.
With the local government elections approaching, High Chief Aguobiri discusses the importance of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State. He emphasizes the inclusivity of the election and believes that PDP’s victory is already assured in Amassoma, a staunch PDP stronghold. He encourages residents to support PDP’s candidate, Hon. Target Segibo, who is well-respected in the community and has demonstrated a commitment to youth empowerment.
As the Chairman of Ogboin North RDA, High Chief Aguobiri urges all sons and daughters of Amassoma to align themselves with the PDP, asserting that victory is already theirs. With a strong presence in local politics, PDP is poised to secure significant wins in the upcoming election.
