Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia, gave the assurance during a citizen participatory program, Bayelsa Wokeniwenimo, on Glory FM 97.1 on Tuesday.

He stressed that the Governor’s commitment to project Bayelsa has not changed, as his vision and plans of connecting the capital, Yenagoa to the three senatorial districts by road, among other big ticket projects were on course.

The Governor’s Political Adviser added that Governor Diri is not saturated by the overwhelming authority attached to the seat of the office of the Governor, as he still maintains his usual simple, down-to-earth personality, and was willing to receive and interact with anyone, irrespective of societal status, religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.

The pioneer Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, stressed that the Governor’s peaceful trait, developmental strides in the last four years, and most importantly, his penchant for prayers and love for God, all contributed to his victory at the November 11 governorship election.

“You can see clearly that even areas we didnt get votes in 2019 elections, the Governor took development to those areas, Mr Governor gave appointments to persons from those areas, in areas where they showed hatred in the 2019 election, he took love to them.”

“So I think in terms of the development he has taken to them, the people over there are humans, and they looked at it and concluded that the Governor needs their support and endorsement, and that was what eventually gave birth to the ease via which the 2023 governorship election got won by the Governor and the PDP.”

High Chief Collins Cocodia also added that as the first elected Organizing Secretary of the Ijaw National Congress several years ago, Senator Diri crisscrossed the length and breadth of the Ijaw nation and feels the pulse of the people, hence his readiness to ensure the dividends of democracy touches every nook and cranny of the state and beyond, under his administration.

With the swearing in ceremony less than seven days away, High Chief Cocodia said the state government will not be having an extravagant celebration, going by the current hardship witnessed in the country.

The Special Adviser on Political Matters used the Radio program to call on Bayelsans not to relent in their efforts to pray for the Governor so that his policies and projects for Bayelsa will be fully implemented.
