It was a week of celebration, joy, and gratitude as Ambassador Benaoyagha Okoyen, a distinguished Nigerian diplomat, marked his 60th birthday with a series of memorable events in Abuja.

The celebrations began on Sunday, 12th October 2025, with a special Birthday Golf Kitty organized in his honour by members of the TYB Golf Club. The event attracted golfers from across different categories — professionals, amateurs, ladies, and veterans — who competed keenly for various prizes and awards.
The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and excitement as participants and guests toasted to the Ambassador’s milestone and contributions to public service and sportsmanship.
The festivities continued on Wednesday, 15th October 2025, with a Thanksgiving celebration held at Benford International School, Abuja, where family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered to honour Ambassador Okoyen.
The celebration culminated in a grand birthday dinner at the Abuja Continental Hotel, where guests rejoiced with heartfelt tributes, music, and dancing in appreciation of a life of excellence, service, and impact.
Ambassador Okoyen expressed deep gratitude to God for the gift of life and to everyone who celebrated with him in various ways.
He also appreciated the prayers, goodwill messages, generous gifts, and outpouring of love that made his 60th birthday truly remarkable.
Amb Ben Okoyen was Nigerian ambassador to Cuba with concurrent accreditation to the Bahamas, Honduras and Nicaragua from (2021- 2023). He was also Nigerian Consul -General in New York twice 2015, 2018-2021 respectively.
