PANDEF therefore calls upon the relevant authorities, most especially, President Bola Tinubu, as the father of the nation, and the National Assembly, led by our own son, Senator Godswill Akpabio to act without delay to restore democratic governance in Rivers State. The prolonged political crisis in the state has created an environment of instability and uncertainty that directly impacts the well-being of everyday citizens.
Today, we make a solemn appeal to all critical stakeholders, party faithfuls, community leaders, and political actors across our senatorial district: Let the zoning arrangement stand. Let the Senate seat rotate back to Ekeremor Local Government Area, while the House of Representatives seat returns to Sagbama Local Government Area, in line with the agreed formula.
Until his death Wanemi was an ardent supporter of the Bayelsa state PDP, he was a political appointee in former Governor Seriake Dickson’s government and the current Governor Douye Diri”s government. He was the current Vice chairman of the well respected MOSIEND (MOVEMENT FOR THE SURVIVAL OF THE IZON ETHNIC NATIONALITY IN THE NIGER DELTA), the PDP Ward 3 Ewoama Brass LGA will definitely miss him.

PANDEF is hopeful that in setting up this new Commission, Mr President will carefully select competent and tested hands with cognate skills and experience to ensure that this body plays its complimentary role to the efforts of our Governors in delivering sustainable development to the region, which continues to contribute immensely to the sustenance of the Nigerian national economy for decades.
Many Nigerian states, particularly in the North East, North West and North Central geopolitical zones live with daily assaults on their very existence. Yet, no state of emergency has been declared!
It is also worth noting that the Constitution outlines specific procedures for the removal of a governor and deputy governor, as detailed in Section 188, and similar provisions exist for the removal of members of the House of Assembly and the dissolution of parliament. In the current situation, it appears that these guidelines might not have been fully considered.
PANDEF hereby calls upon Mr. President, as the father of the nation, to prevail upon the Honourable Minister to retract his inflammatory statements and extend due respect to these eminent Nigerians and traditional rulers who were, after all, esteemed guests of the Commander-in-Chief. It is apt to remind that the Minister does not own the Niger-Delta and his errant conduct should not be condoned.
Indeed, until his passing, Pa Adebanjo was the co-founder and deputy chairman, alongside Chief E.K. Clark, in the Southern and Middle Belt Forum—a platform that brings together leaders from the South East, South South, South West, and North Central regions. This forum continues to play a crucial role in promoting dialogue and understanding across Nigeria’s diverse regions, including close interraction with Arewa Consutative Forum and Northern Elders Forum.

The US withdrawal from the agreement means it will no longer be bound by its commitments to reduce emissions, which could have serious consequences for the environment and the economy. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the US has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement – it previously withdrew in 2020, but rejoined in 2021 under the Biden administration.
