This milestone anniversary offers us yet another opportunity to reflect on the journey of our nationhood. In that respect, we urge governments at all levels to show greater determination and respect for rule of law in consolidating democracy, pursuing meaningful economic reforms, and confronting the challenges of insecurity, poverty, hunger and youth unemployment that continue to weigh heavily on our people.
Don’t get us wrong: President Jonathan reserves the right to run if he wishes. It is his inalienable right to contest the presidency again. President Tinubu will wholeheartedly welcome him if he decides to enter the race. But Jonathan will have his date in the court of the land. Indeed, the jury will determine whether Jonathan, who was sworn in twice as president, satisfies the constitutional requirements and is eligible to contest the presidency and be sworn in, if successful, for a third term in office.
We say to the political leaders and people of Rivers State, who were the true victims of the dark days, that light has returned to the state and a new glorious dawn has come. A moment in which the bitter pains of the past months will inspire all to rededicate themselves to true mutual forberance, new alignments and forward movement.
The petition, dated 10th September 2025, alleged that political actors are working with foreign mercenaries from the Niger Republic and arming them through illegal channels. It further claimed that these individuals are being deployed to attack citizens, silence opposition voices, and undermine peace in the state.

As you enter this new chapter of life, we urge you to reckon that fifty is not the new thirty, but it’s a fantastic age to reassess priorities, pursue new passions, and deepen relationships. You must also realise that the great journey of life has just started for you. So, we pray that this next chapter be filled with greater soberness, purpose, and fulfillment, and may you continue to inspire and make a difference in the lives of others and our nation. May you also have the special grace of God to learn from your human mistakes and imperfections.

Today, we make a solemn appeal to all critical stakeholders, party faithfuls, community leaders, and political actors across our senatorial district: Let the zoning arrangement stand. Let the Senate seat rotate back to Ekeremor Local Government Area, while the House of Representatives seat returns to Sagbama Local Government Area, in line with the agreed formula.
Until his death Wanemi was an ardent supporter of the Bayelsa state PDP, he was a political appointee in former Governor Seriake Dickson’s government and the current Governor Douye Diri”s government. He was the current Vice chairman of the well respected MOSIEND (MOVEMENT FOR THE SURVIVAL OF THE IZON ETHNIC NATIONALITY IN THE NIGER DELTA), the PDP Ward 3 Ewoama Brass LGA will definitely miss him.
