The Executive Chairman of National Population Commission Hon. Nasir Kwarra and his team have been working transparently and diligently to ensure that the 2023 Census in Nigeria is conducted with utmost accuracy, reliability, and trustworthiness.

The goal is to make it the most advanced digital and green census in Africa, following international best practices. It is important for Nigerians to be aware of unscrupulous individuals who are attempting to disrupt the Commission’s training program at the Local Government Area level by circulating fake lists and misleading unsuspecting youths online through scammer blogs. Such elements should not be tolerated.

As the Census Manager has emphasized, in his lecture at the Commission’s interactive workshop for Bloggers and Social Media Influencers in April 25, the 2023 Census is an empowering project for Nigerians, especially the youth population. It is one of the most significant legacy projects of the present administration that must be carried out with the grace of God.

Erevision MediaTV reported that the training at the Local Government Area (LGA) level for the 2023 Census was postponed due to unresolved issues. It is suspected that these

Looking back, it is possible that the postponement of the LGA level training for the 2023 Census was caused by the malicious actions of hackers who exploited the country’s employment situation to manipulate the authentic list. This resulted in people being tricked and gave the Commission a negative reputation. Erevision MediaTV monitored social media interactions and found that even after the successful e-recruitment and screening exercise, some individuals outside the Commission were demanding to be included in the approved list. It is suspected that many of these individuals paid between 15k – 20k with the promise of being added to the list when the LGA training was about to begin.

Upon closer examination of the fake trending list of Supervisors and Enumerators, it is evident that it was manipulated locally.

This is because the format of the characters used in the authentic list is different from that of the fake list. The authentic names are all in upper-case letters, while the fake names that were craftily inserted are in lower-case letters. This indicates that the fake list was not generated by the same system used to create the authentic list. Instead, it was likely created manually by someone who had access to the authentic list and wanted to manipulate it for their own gain.

This is a serious issue as it undermines the integrity of the recruitment process and can lead to inaccurate data collection during the census. It is important that the relevant authorities investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to prevent such manipulations in the future.

2023 Census Manager Dr. Inuwa Bakari Jalingo

According to the Census Manager Dr. Inuwa Bakari Jalingo, the 2023 Census is a crucial legacy project of the current administration that must be carried out with divine assistance, stressing that the census has the potential to empower Nigerians, especially the youth population.

Also, it is important for Nigerians to condemn these unscrupulous elements who are attempting to disrupt the Commission’s training program at the Local Government Area level.

The 2023 Census is an empowering project for Nigerians, especially the youth population. It is one of the most significant legacy projects of the present administration that must be carried out with the grace of God, as emphasized by the Census Manager. Therefore, it is crucial to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to these fake lists and scammers.
