Gloria Izonfuo Kidnapped by Gunmen Regains Freedom After Five Days

Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo, the Hon. Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission in Bayelsa State, who was abducted by gunmen while returning from a trip in Brass, Bayelsa state, has been released after spending five days in captivity. She was abducted alongside her driver and maid at the Ogbakiri junction in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State. Mrs. Izouo is a former Head of Service in Bayelsa State.

 The Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed her release to the press on Friday morning. Iringe-Koko stated that an investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers and bring them to justice.

When asked if Mrs. Izonfuo’s driver and maid were also released, the police spokesperson said she would provide an update on that later.

 It is unclear whether any ransom was paid for Mrs. Izonfuo’s release.
