The IYC President pointed out that Timaya’s concert serves as a strategic framework for the growth and development of the performance industry in Bayelsa State. He expressed his belief that the concert is an intentional act to motivate and inspire upcoming Ijaw artists. Therefore, he advised budding musicians in the Ijaw nation to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by Timaya, a proud son of Odi Town in Kolokuma-Opokuma LGA of the State, who has made the Ijaw nation proud through his dancehall music.

The IYC President highlighted the numerous benefits of hosting such a concert in Yenagoa, including:

  • Stimulating the local economy
  • Providing a platform for local artists to showcase their skills and gain exposure
  • Promoting a sense of community spirit and social cohesion among residents
  • Generating buzz and excitement around Yenagoa and on social media platforms
  • Enhancing the city’s reputation and attractiveness to visitors and investors.

He urged the youths of Bayelsa State to behave well and support the Music Ambassador in hosting a successful show, stating that the IYC, under his leadership, would be present at the concert to ensure the safety and security of everyone.

Jonathan Lokpobiri also thanked traditional music icon Alfred JKing Izon-Ebi for organizing a free show for Bayelsan children every 25th of December. He took this opportunity to appeal to Timaya to consider uplifting some talented Ijaw youths who only need a chance to shine.

Lokpobiri emphasized that the Ijaw nation is home to many talented young people and that it would be a disservice not to take deliberate steps to assist these talents in realizing their dreams of greatness. He noted that the progress of these talented youths is directly linked to the advancement of the state.

He concluded by stating that since Timaya holds a significant position in the music industry in this part of the world, it is imperative that he champions the cause of lifting our talented youths from obscurity to stardom.
