NDDC 2024 Food Support Programme: A significant step towards tackling Christmas care in the Region

The launch of the rice distribution programme in Niger Delta region before Christmas and New year marked a significant step in the efforts of the Niger Delta Development Commission to ensure the availability of food on table for the people. The Director of Procurement, Dr. Week Doodei Agbabou at the event, highlighted the commitment of NDDC in collaboration with Contractors to support commission’s efforts aimed at alleviating food shortage during the period.

He highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in the distribution process, while encouraging beneficiaries to use rice for personal consumption, not for profit.

Furthermore, Procurement Director revealed that it was a collective decision by the management to cushion the effect inline with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renew Hope Agenda for the people to feel the impact of governance.

He also defined the target groups for this programme, including artisans, non-profit organisations, student bodies, religious entities and other community members in the region. According to him, the objective is to directly reach beneficiaries via structures organized for maximum impact.

Nonetheless, Dr. Week Doodei Agbabou stressed that the primary aim of the programme is to provide essential food items to those in need especially people with disabilities, demonstrating Commissions’ commitment to social responsibility and people’s welfare programmes.

He thanked the Chairman, Managing Director and other management team for their foresight on the NDDC 2024 Food Support Programme in Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Cross River, Abia, Imo and Ondo state.

Earlier, beneficiaries for the free rice distribution programme thanked NDDC and Contractors for their supportive tasks annually and sense of responsibility for the festive period.
