The National Population Commission (NPC) in Akwa Ibom State held a successful breakfast meeting with media executives on June 6, 2023, to discuss the preparations for the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

During the meeting, the Honourable Federal Commissioner highlighted the significant progress made by the NPC in the preparations for the census and launched the NPC’s 2023 Population and Housing Census logo.
The meeting also featured goodwill messages from various stakeholders, an interactive session, and a question-and-answer session. The NPC is currently concluding the pre-census exercise, which is aimed at testing the census instruments and procedures.
The Honourable Federal Commissioner urged all residents of Akwa Ibom State to cooperate with the NPC during the census exercise, emphasizing the importance of the census for planning and development. The meeting was attended by media executives from various platforms, including print, electronic, and online media.
The media executives were given an opportunity to ask questions about the census process and the NPC’s preparations.
The Honourable Federal Commissioner and other NPC officials were able to provide detailed information about the census process and the NPC’s preparations, helping the media executives to better understand the importance of the census and the need for citizens’ cooperation.
The breakfast meeting was a successful event that helped to raise awareness of the 2023 Population and Housing Census and build relationships between the NPC and the media, which will be crucial in ensuring the census’s success.
