The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has congratulated renowned economist and public intellectual, Prof. Pat Utomi, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing his life as a testament to “God’s unblemished love, grace and faithfulness.”

In a letter dated February 9, 2026, and personally signed by the National Chairman of PANDEF, Amb. (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, the group extolled Prof. Utomi’s contributions to national development and his steadfast commitment to the Nigerian dream.
“I acknowledge receipt of the invitation extended to me and my father and do convey my warm felicitation on the auspicious occasion of your 70th birthday celebration,” Igali wrote, noting that the milestone event held on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Describing the attainment of 70 years as “no ordinary feat,” Igali attributed Utomi’s longevity and impact to divine providence. “This indeed is no ordinary feat, but the story of God’s unblemished love, grace and faithfulness that has brought you thus far in good health and soundness of mind,” he stated.
The PANDEF Chairman further praised Utomi not only as a distinguished son of the Niger Delta but also as a patriot whose courage has inspired many across the country. “I am particularly proud of you, not only as a son of the Niger Delta, but as a true patriot of the Nigerian dream. Truly, you have shown great courage that is worthy of emulation,” Igali added.
Offering prayers for continued strength and greater accomplishments, Igali expressed optimism about the celebrant’s future. “Our prayer therefore, is that the Lord Almighty continue to bless and increase you in all things, and may the years to come usher you into greater horizons beyond the imaginations of men; from strength to strength and successes heaped on successes.”
Quoting Philippians 1:6, he concluded with a note of confidence in Utomi’s enduring impact: “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Prof. Pat Utomi, a respected academic and advocate of good governance, has for decades remained a prominent voice in Nigeria’s socio-economic and political discourse.
