Petition Laid at the National Assembly to Address Neglect of Ogboinbiri Community by Oando Energy Resources Limited

The Honourable Member representing the good people of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, has laid a petition before the House of Representatives, highlighting the neglect of the Ogboinbiri community by Oando Energy Resources Limited.

He called for immediate action regarding an alarming situation.

While addressing the House, Hon. Ambaiowei stated, “Mr. Speaker, I have a petition from my constituent Mathias Ebisinte Jacob, Esq. The petition is titled ‘Complaint on Massive Oil Spill at Ogboinbiri/Tebidaba Pipeline in the Ogboinbiri community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.'”

He further elaborated on the issue, pointing out the “neglect of the Ogboinbiri community by Oando Energy Resources Limited, including its failure to contain the spill in a timely manner, conduct cleanup operations, send relief materials, provide compensation, and remediate the polluted environment.”

Ambaiowei then requested, “Mr. Speaker, may I ask the House to lay my petition before the floor of the House? Thank you.”

In response, the Speaker acknowledged the request: “Thank you, leave is now granted; you may now lay your petition.”

Hon. Engr, Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei then proceeded to lay the petition accordingly.
