One of Ijawland’s finest minds across academia, public service, and socio-cultural leadership, Professor Erepamo Franklin Osaisai has formally declared his intention to serve as President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).

Prof. Osaisai is contesting the INC 2026 presidential election, scheduled to hold on March 7, 2026, in Yenagoa, alongside five other candidates, bringing to the race a distinguished record of excellence, integrity, and visionary leadership.
Born on October 1, 1958, Prof. Osaisai is a renowned Nuclear Engineer and Energy Scientist, and a former Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC).
He received his secondary education in Bayelsa State, obtaining the West African School Certificate (WASC) in June 1977. He later attended the University of Port Harcourt, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemistry in May 1981. Driven by academic excellence, he won a prestigious graduate scholarship that took him to the University of California, where he obtained both his Master’s and Doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees in Nuclear Engineering between 1984 and 1987.
Prof. Osaisai began his professional career at the University of California as a lecturer before returning to Nigeria to serve at the University of Port Harcourt, where he specialized in Nuclear Reactor Engineering. His exceptional expertise and leadership later earned him appointment as Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NAEC under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he played a key role in shaping Nigeria’s nuclear energy policy framework.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Prof. Osaisai has served in numerous professional and strategic capacities, both nationally and internationally. He brings to the INC race a rare combination of experience, global exposure, intellectual depth, and unwavering commitment to the Ijaw cause.
