Prosperity Alliance Criticizes Victor Isaiah and Preye Aganaba for Attacking Diri’s Vision for Bayelsa’s Development

Prosperity Alliance, a prominent socio-political organization, has criticized former Brass Local Government Chairman Victor Isaiah and APC Chieftain Preye Aganaba for their recent public remarks against Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri.

Their criticism followed Governor Diri’s call for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to intensify its developmental projects across the state, rather than focusing primarily on smaller, less impactful projects.

In a statement, Dr. Solomon Apreala, Chairman of Prosperity Alliance, condemned Isaiah and Aganaba’s open letter, which he described as misinformed and unnecessarily divisive.

Dr Apreala defended Diri’s position, asserting that the Governor’s collaborative approach with the NDDC is essential for sustainable growth and prosperity in Bayelsa.

“Governor Diri’s recommendation for the NDDC to move beyond basic solar-powered streetlights to impactful, capital-intensive projects reflects his dedication to addressing the long-term needs of our communities,” Apreala declared. “His call for more robust NDDC engagement is fully in line with the agency’s core mandate of fostering development in the Niger Delta region.”

Apreala emphasized that while skills training and scholarship programmes provided by the NDDC are valuable for empowering youths, they must be complemented by visible infrastructure projects that improve the lives of Bayelsa’s citizens.

“The governor’s vision is clear: long-lasting infrastructure will empower our communities, attract investors, and lay a foundation for economic stability and resilience,” he added.

The Prosperity Alliance also underscored Governor Diri’s commitment to inclusivity, highlighting his administration’s openness to engaging members of opposition parties in governance roles. “Governor Diri runs a detribalized, all-inclusive government, where individuals from various political backgrounds are welcomed into his cabinet to serve the interests of Bayelsans,” Apreala stated.

He urged Isaiah and Aganaba to move past political sentiments and contribute positively to Bayelsa’s progress, noting that political unity is critical for the state’s advancement in today’s challenging economic climate.

Under Governor Diri’s A.S.S.U.R.E.D. agenda—an initiative focusing on economic growth, social development, environmental sustainability, infrastructure, and governance, Bayelsa State has seen substantial improvements during his first term. “From new roads and bridges to investments in education, health, and tourism, this administration is making visible strides in transforming Bayelsa for the better,”

Dr. Apreala said. “It’s disappointing that some former public officials, who were trusted to serve the people, are attempting to undermine these efforts through baseless criticisms.”

In light of these developments, Dr. Apreala called on Isaiah and Aganaba to retract their statements, highlighting that Governor Diri’s efforts align with the constitutional mandate to meet the needs of the people.

The Governor, he noted, has managed to balance his work with federal agencies such as the NDDC without seeking to compete with them but instead complement their efforts to foster development.

Responding to Aganaba’s criticism over the Governor’s decision regarding an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp location, Prosperity Alliance defended the choice of Biseni, stating that it was based on pressing needs.

“While we acknowledge that Odi and other localities are impacted by flooding, Biseni and its environs are particularly hard-hit. Governor Diri’s recommendation reflects his fair and data-driven approach to project execution,” Apreala argued. “These localized needs must be acknowledged, not politicized.”

Dr. Apreala further stressed the importance of equitable distribution of resources across Bayelsa State, warning against the concentration of critical projects in just one area. “Our strength lies in our unity,” he concluded. “We must avoid regional biases and focus on ensuring that every community benefits from meaningful, development-driven projects.”
