In a recent interview, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, the National Assembly representative of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, discussed his struggles and challenges over the past year, particularly his experiences at the Court of Appeal.

Hon. Ambaiowei began by expressing gratitude to God and acknowledging the travails faced by his constituents, which he believes are connected to those faced by Governor Sen. Douye Diri. He discussped his motion on boat and craft mishaps in coastal areas, emphasizing his commitment to addressing issues that his constituents face.
The representative also raised concerns about the federal government’s plan to provide electric buses or compressed natural gas (CNG) as palliatives to commuters. Recognizing that the majority of his constituency relies on waterways due to the lack of motorable road networks, Rodney Ambaiowei expressed his intention to bring this issue to the floor of the house.
Engr. Ambaiowei further highlighted the outdated shore protection in Amassoma community, set to be addressed in the upcoming National Assembly session. He expressed his love and dedication to Southern Ijaw, promising to tackle the challenges faced by both his State and Federal constituencies.
The representative mentioned bringing forth bills that would establish institutions in his Federal Constituency. However, he emphasized that the National Assembly is not a money-making machine and stated his inability to fulfill all monetary requests from his constituents. Ambaiowei asked for understanding and reminded them that his priority lies in speaking on their behalf and addressing their problems.
When asked about other projects by way of oversight functions, Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei emphasized the need for development in Southern Ijaw. He highlighted the district’s potential for crude oil production, education, and tourism, expressing his intention to propose bills to promote growth and advance these areas.
The NASS representative of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency assured his constituents that he would ensure a balanced equation, emphasizing that his focus was on moving the Federal Constituency to the limelight of Bayelsa State. He stressed that his responsibility extends beyond his own community and reiterated his commitment to the entire Ijaw nation.
In conclusion, Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei urged the Ijaw people to unite under organizations such as the Ijaw National Congress and the Ijaw Youth Council, with a shared goal of making the Ijaw nation great. He called upon all Ijaw governors to support the Governor of Bayelsa State Sen. Douye Diri, emphasizing the importance of unity for the advancement of the Ijaw people.
As the new year commences, Hon. Ambaiowei’s message to his constituents is one of hope and determination to address their concerns and work towards a brighter future for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency.
