As we gather in this historic town of Nembe today, on behalf of us, I say, happy 92nd birthday to an extraordinary father, mentor, and inspirator. Indeed, today, we celebrate not only your remarkable life now nine decades and two years, but also your profound impact on countless students, co-sholars and colleagues, loved ones, and above all, family. Indeed, your contributions to understanding our Ijaw identity and reality are profound and superlative.

Let’s remember that as a renowned historian, your writings have shaped our understanding of the past, while your teaching has inspired generations of scholars especially thoseof us who sat under feet at the Department of History, University of Portharcourt. It’s common knowledge that your passion for history, commitment to accuracy, and dedication to education have left an indelible mark. So you taught us to take historical vocation with optimal security.
Let me add quickly that beyond academia, your love for arts and culture has enriched our lives. Your appreciation for the finer things has inspired creativity, fostered curiosity, and brought joy to those around you.
