On Saturday, June 14, 2025, a significant event unfolded in Sampou, Bayelsa State, as the National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Amb. (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, spearheaded a distinguished delegation of Southern Ijaw stakeholders. Their visit to His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, marked a pivotal moment for the local community as they celebrated the achievements and ongoing efforts of their representative in the National Assembly, Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei.

The primary motive behind the gathering was to express gratitude to Governor Diri for his steadfast support, which played a crucial role in the election of Ambaiowei, and to showcase the legislative progress made in Southern Ijaw over the course of the two-year term.
This initiative underscored the deep-rooted connection between the local leadership and the governor, illustrating a commitment to the region’s advancement in economic, infrastructural, and political spheres.
In an exclusive interview with EMTV News post-visit, Dr. Igali emphasized the importance of community engagement and accountability within democratic governance.
PANDEF National Chairman Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali
“Honourable Ambaiowei decided it was essential to consult with the people and leaders of Southern Ijaw, but first and foremost, to express his gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support throughout his electoral journey,” he stated.
The delegation, which included senators, members of the House of Assembly, and the Secretary to the State Government, highlighted the collective acknowledgment of the governor’s initiatives aimed at enhancing Southern Ijaw.
“We are grateful for the new roads, technical schools, and various infrastructural projects that are shaping our communities,” Dr. Igali noted.
Amb. Igali further stressed the importance of elected officials maintaining open lines of communication with their constituents.
“Elected representatives must return to their communities to report their accomplishments. It’s not just about issuing directives; it’s about listening to the feedback of the people they serve. This is the essence of democracy,” he remarked.
As Engr. Ambaiowei unveiled his midterm scorecard, it became evident that progress has been made in key areas, reflecting a leadership that values collaboration and transparency.
The event was more than just a report; it was a reaffirmation of the relationship between the people of Southern Ijaw and their leaders, a celebration of shared achievements, and a commitment to continued growth for the region.
In conclusion, the visit served as a powerful reminder of the potential for positive change when leaders unite with their communities.
Amb. Godknows Igali speaking to EMTV News in Sampou, Bayelsa State
With the unwavering support of Governor Diri and the proactive approach of Rodney Ambaiowei, Southern Ijaw is poised for a future filled with opportunity and development.
Bayelsa State Governor Sen. Douye Diri asserts that the Ijaw people are incredibly resilient, adapting to and overcoming various challenges in their environment. He emphasized that the challenging terrain has not hindered his commitment to developing the state.
Bayelsa Governor Sen. Douye Diri
Sen. Diri made these remarks while receiving the “Midterm Stewardship Report for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency” from Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei at his residence in Sampou.
He stated, “Some people describe our terrain as extremely difficult. There are those who believe we should be relocated. In the past, some political elites from outside this area would argue, ‘We have oil and gas across this land, so let’s remove the people and proceed without obstruction.’ However, we have been resilient and continue to thrive.”
“Our terrain is not a curse; it is indeed a blessing. It’s beautiful. It is only when we travel outside and return that we truly appreciate our landscape. We need to harness our resilience to develop it further. If we invest in our terrain, it can become a tourist attraction like others around the world.”
While expressing gratitude to the people of Southern Ijaw for their unity and support, Gov. Douye Diri reminisced about the idea of a coastal road project now being undertaken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting the happiness it brings to the Ijaw community. He recalled, “During my time with the Ijaw National Congress, one of our major demands was a coastal road from Lagos to Calabar. I vividly remember the day Abdulsalam took over and appointed Lt. Col. Aprezi, an Ijaw man, as his ADC.”
“Through him, we were able to present the Ijaw nation’s demands, including the coastal road project, which is crucial for opening our ethnic nationality to tourism and enhancing our economic and social activities.”
Gov. Diri expressed his continued appreciation for President Tinubu’s commitment to fulfilling this long-standing demand, emphasizing its potential to transform the Ijaw community.
Speaking on recent rumors suggesting he plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Diri offered insights into the events that may have sparked such speculation.
“About a fortnight ago, we were in Lagos for the commissioning of part of the Lagos-Calabar road and the flagging off of the Nembe-Brass road, where I represented Bayelsa as Governor. During the event, I noticed that two states, Edo and Bayelsa, were missing from the displayed map of the coastal road. My immediate concern prompted me to approach the contractor, expressing my discontent about my state being omitted. He assured me that they would rectify this oversight in their comments.”
“I then brought this issue to the attention of the Minister of Works, who also acknowledged the mistake and promised to address it promptly.”
“This situation led to various interpretations, with some concluding I was about to defect. However, my focus remains on how to foster development and unite Bayelsa, building a prosperous future for generations to come. The days of violent politics are over,” he declared.
Governor Diri emphasized, “I believe that Nigerian political parties lack true ideology, which is why we often witness constant shifts and movements. What truly matters is our ability to bring development to our communities and make the changes that previous generations could not.”
He concluded with a vision for a prosperous future, reflecting on aspirations for his community: “Perhaps one day, people from Angiama in Southern Ijaw will awake to find bridges and roads that reflect the progress we’ve made. What previous generations could not accomplish, we must strive to achieve for our children.”
The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, has commended Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, the National Assembly member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, for his outstanding performance over the past two years in the House of Representatives.
Governor Diri expressed his commendation during a visit by a high-powered delegation of Southern Ijaw stakeholders, led by the National Chairman of PANDEF, Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali. The delegation visited the governor in his country home in Sampou on June 14, 2025, to express their gratitude for his support in the election of Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei and to highlight the positive projects he has initiated in the area.
The Bayelsa helmsman extended heartfelt appreciation to the delegation, which comprised representatives from various political parties, for acknowledging the developmental strides of his administration in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
“People have been coming to say thank you. If I say nobody has been coming, it’s not true; a lot of people have come to express their gratitude, but I want to say that this visit stands out. I can see Southern Ijaw in its original entity—the crème de la crème of leaders across political parties,” he said.
“It gladdens my heart because that’s what I have been preaching since I assumed office—the unity and oneness we share as a people from this geographical entity. Not only from a geographical perspective, but also from an ethnic standpoint. Particularly for those of us from the old Yenagoa Local Government Area. “
“We have worked together, we have shared good times and bad times together, making us a people who are one and the same. We’re inseparable. So I feel very, very happy to receive this caliber of leaders from Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.”
“I know that the Honourable has been working tirelessly for quite some time, and while some may think it’s late, it’s never too late to say ‘thank you.’ After Jesus Christ healed ten lepers, only one returned to express gratitude. In everything you do in this world, appreciation matters. Power itself is transient. We are in power today, tomorrow we may not be, and others will take our place. What stands out is the legacy we leave behind.”
“I appreciate you all for the unity that I am witnessing in Southern Ijaw today. Some of you are not based here in Yenagoa; you have come from far and near—some of you from Abuja, some from Lagos—to demonstrate that oneness. You are all here today to follow your son and express your gratitude. Let it also be with you,” Sen. Diri added.
Earlier in the visit, the leader of the delegation, Amb. (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, conveyed the purpose of the visit. “This auspicious occasion is to thank the Governor for his unwavering support for our son. All political office holders from Southern Ijaw are here today to appreciate you for the love that has endured over the years and to thank you particularly for your assistance in his work in the National Assembly.”
“Today, we thank you for bringing forth our son, Rodney Ambaiowei, from a noble family in Southern Ijaw. You stood by him amidst many interests and confidently said, ‘This young man, I know him. He’s an Engineer.’ He has served at both the state and federal levels and has performed remarkably well in the House of Representatives. We are here today to express our appreciation.”
“To thank you not just for finding him fit and proper for this role, but because you did not impose him on us. You recommended him based on your confidence in his abilities, encouraging us to vote for him. You personally campaigned for him town by town, leading to his landslide victory, and he has been representing us incredibly well.”
“Your Excellency, Rodney has asked us to thank you and assure you that the A.S.S.U.R.E.D programme of the Prosperity Government has enabled him to touch most communities in Southern Ijaw. He has documented his work, which we will present to you. More importantly, we come to greet you. Nua!” he said.
While presenting his “Mid-Term Stewardship Report for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency” to Governor Douye Diri, Hon. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei emphasized that the governor is not just a leader but also his father and mentor. “When I call him my mentor, he truly is. You can imagine someone who guided me through school and continues to mentor me today as I serve in the legislative house.”
“I started my political journey in 2003, contesting in the elections of 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019. I never imagined that one day you would become governor and provide me this platform. I am here simply to express my gratitude. Even though my leader has thanked you profoundly, I am still here to say thank you. Nua!” he concluded.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the “Mid-Term Stewardship Report for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency” by Hon. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei to Governor Sen. Douye Diri.
The report details the projects successfully executed during his two years of legislative service to the people of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, garnering a standing ovation from attendees.

In a remarkable step towards enhancing the living standards of the Diebu Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, the commissioning of a solar-powered borehole and a substantial 70,000-liter overhead tank took place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, MHR
This transformative project, part of the Quick Impact Projects Scheme initiated by CNS Vice Admiral E.I. Ogalla, is poised to provide the community with access to safe and sustainable water supply.
During the commissioning ceremony, dignitaries and stakeholders gathered to celebrate this significant achievement that underscores a commitment to improving essential amenities in rural areas.
Hon. Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei, the dedicated representative for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, played a pivotal role in advocating for this vital project. Although he was unable to attend in person due to other commitments, he was well represented by Snr. Comrade Abaye Ambaiowei, who eloquently articulated the importance of this initiative.
The solar-powered borehole is a crucial addition to the community, where safe drinking water has often been a scarce resource. With the installation of this innovative system, the residents of Diebu can look forward to improved health outcomes and overall wellbeing, as access to clean water is critical in preventing waterborne diseases and fostering a healthy environment.
The use of solar energy in the water supply system not only ensures a reliable source of water but also aligns with global efforts to promote renewable energy. It exemplifies how local projects can be implemented in a manner that respects and protects the environment while simultaneously addressing essential community needs.
Hon. Ambaiowei’s continued efforts to advocate for meaningful development initiatives in his constituency resonate deeply with the residents of Southern Ijaw. By supporting projects like the solar-powered borehole, he demonstrates unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for his constituents.
The Diebu Community’s new water infrastructure stands as a beacon of hope and progress. This project not only brings immediate relief and benefits but also sets a precedent for future initiatives aimed at empowering communities in Bayelsa State and beyond.
As we reflect on the successful commissioning of this solar-powered borehole, it is clear that collaborative efforts between government officials, organizations, and community members can lead to tangible improvements in the lives of many. The message is loud and clear: with vision, dedication, and the right resources, communities can flourish and overcome the challenges of the modern world.
Through initiatives like these, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei and his team are not only changing lives today but are also sowing the seeds for a prosperous future for the people of Southern Ijaw. Cheers to the residents of Diebu Community for this significant milestone and a brighter, healthier tomorrow!

Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, Mnse, member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the National Assembly in thanksgiving.
Women leader Mrs. Ebilambo Ambaiowei-Okiakpe
The Thanksgiving Service, held at the Church of God Mission International in Biogbolo – Yenagoa, was not only a moment of appreciation but also a testament to the powerful ways in which God has been at work in the political voyage of Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei so far through thick and thin.
The gathering was characterized by joyous expressions of faith and commitment as members of the Women With Good Intention in Rodney Ambaiowei Camp for Prosperity acknowledged the divine protection and blessings bestowed upon Hon. Ambaiowei.
Mrs. Ebilambo Ambaiowei-Okiakpe, the National Coordinator of the group, expressed profound gratitude, stating, “the Women agreed we should appreciate God on behalf of Hon. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei for God’s protection over his life, over his family, over his followers. God has been faithful to him and also to us.”
These sentiments echo the collective heart of the people of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, recognizing that the peace and prosperity they enjoy are not by chance but through God’s grace.
During the service, attendees reflected on how God has kept them safe and united, avoiding the challenges of sickness and strife. The atmosphere was charged with the spirit of thanksgiving as the group joyously declared, “Baba God thank you” for all the good things He has done. Their commitment to Hon. Ambaiowei’s mission was palpable, as they affirmed their desire to contribute positively to his vision for the people.
In her inspiring address, Mrs. Ambaiowei-Okiakpe emphasized the role of women as advisors and supporters within the “Rodney in Prosperity” initiative. “We always have good things to share, we have good things to advise as mothers, sisters, and friends,” she affirmed.
The Women with Good Intention stand firm in their prayers for continued grace upon Hon. Ambaiowei, wishing for God’s protection over their camp and for each member to be shielded from harm.
The love and appreciation for Hon. Ambaiowei extended beyond ordinary admiration. As described by Mrs. Ebilambo Ambaiowei-Okiakpe, he is a man of God who values the contributions of those around him and is deeply grateful for every gesture of support. “Whatever you’re doing for him in the name of God, he’s overwhelmed,” she said, underscoring the importance of community support in leadership.
The Women With Good Intention departed the Thanksgiving Service with renewed strength and determination to support their leader, vowing to remain steadfast as friends, sisters, and allies. In unity, they declared, “we’re with you day and night, we’ll not leave you, neither will we forsake you.” This powerful affirmation serves as a reminder of the strength found in community and shared faith.
As we celebrate the spirit of gratitude and loyalty exemplified by the Women With Good Intention, let us reflect on the role of divine guidance in our lives and the importance of standing together for the common good. In the journey towards prosperity, it is clear that with faith and unity, the community of Southern Ijaw can achieve great things together.
In line with his commitment to fulfilling electoral promises and overseeing development in the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei today commissioned two landmark projects: a standard public toilet in the Igeibiri community and a fully renovated block of classrooms in the Enewari community.
Hon. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, Mnse, MHR
The Chief of Staff and Constituency Liaison Officer to the Honorable Member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Mr. Pere Alfred, led a team of stakeholders and media representatives to commission the projects on behalf of Hon. Ambaiowei.
The team first visited Igeibiri community, where a modern public toilet facility—fully equipped with a solar-powered borehole ensuring a constant supply of water—has been constructed by Hon. Ambaiowei.
While commissioning the modern public toilet facility, Mr. Alfred remarked that the lawmaker had received a letter endorsed by the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), the Chairman of the Council of Chiefs, and the CDC Secretary of Igeibiri Community on September 24, 2024, stating that the Igeibiri community needs a toilet facility.
He emphasized that the letter highlighted a need for a floating toilet, but the honorable member, who is committed to discouraging open defecation, insisted, “No, it cannot be a floating toilet at the waterfront. It must be a well-constructed land toilet that we need to site in the Igeibiri community.”
The Constituency Liaison Officer explained that based on this resolve, Hon. Ambaiowei mobilized contractors to inspect the site in the Igeibiri community on September 28, 2024, and employed local contractors who are indigenes of the community to construct the facility. “This is the facility we constructed with modern water supply and other installations,” he stated.
MHR Representative Mr. Pere Alfred cutting the commissioning tape in Igeibiri
“Today, we want to officially commission this project so that the good people of the Igeibiri community can use it to the glory of God and to discourage open defecation.”
“Now, it’s obvious that the rate of cholera outbreak is alarming, and one of the causes is open defecation. We believe that you’ll make good use of this facility. It’s your property. We’ve come to build it for you. Take care of it and maintain it, so that the hazards associated with open defecation can be averted,” he continued.
The ribbon was cut to officially commission the project and set the facility for use in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Acting Paramount Ruler of Igeibiri community, Chief Julius Feateidei Okon,
In his response to the commissioning of this constituency project in Igeibiri, the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman and Acting Paramount Ruler of Igeibiri community, Chief Julius Feateidei Okon, expressed his appreciation and joy for what the Congressman has done in his community.
He said, “By the grace of God, today is a remarkable day for my leadership and the community. Many leaders have come and gone, but Hon. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei represents a different kind of leadership.
“I never knew Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei before; I had never come across him. The first day that I called him, he answered me. He asked me to send him a message about my request. I did, and he responded promptly. I’ve never seen leadership like this—I’ve never seen a leader serving in Southern Ijaw. Many leaders have come and gone, but I’ve not seen one like this.”
“I wrote a letter, and he answered. He later brought this wonderful facility to the community. By the grace of God, the community appreciates him. We are very happy.”
“My heart is overwhelmed with joy and happiness. The whole community is very happy. If this were a campaign, it would be a hundred percent success—not 95, not 99, but 100%. We assure the House of Representatives member today that his seat will contain him until 2027. After 2027, we trust he will continue to represent us, as far as Igeibiri is concerned.”
Some stakeholders in the Igeibiri community also spoke to the media shortly after the commissioning ceremony.
Prince Angalabiri presenting a gift of palmoil to Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei
One of them, Prince Angalabiri, who presented a gift of palmoil to the lawmaker, stated, “Rodney Ambaiowei should keep doing what he’s started, and continue this good work. God should grant him wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to continue to lead the affairs of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in Jesus’ name.”
“And for me, I see this as a very good project because I am the first beneficiary. If you look here, this is my oil mill, and this toilet project ensures we will not defecate openly. It’s very wrong. We are very happy for this kind of project he has brought to us. He should keep doing good work because he has been positively impacting several communities; he’s a good man. That means what the elder told me this morning—he’s a good son—holds true. He’s a good son of Southern Ijaw.”
“So, therefore, this palm oil I present is not the Delta type or Ogbia palm oil; this is Southern Ijaw palm oil that I deal in,” he concluded.
On his part, Asupa Ikpitibo commented, “It has been 24 years since anyone in the political sector has made an effort to build even a toilet or initiate anything to make us happy—until Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei came and made us happy. I am very excited and happy. Personally, I am an APC man, but I will vote for him for a second tenure.”
“And I assure you that for the Igeibiri community, we’ll deliver 35 to 75 percent of our votes to ensure Rodney carries the day in 2027.”
At Enewari community, the team was warmly welcomed at the waterfront with cheerful songs from the Principal, staff, and students of Community Secondary School Enewari, where a six-classroom block and staff rooms that were a previously dilapidated six-classrooms school building have been fully renovated and equipped with new classroom furniture and stationery by the honorable member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, as part of his constituency projects in Ward 12.
In his welcome address, the Principal of Community Secondary School Enewari, Mr. Rufus Francis Kalaoga, expressed gratitude for the good work that Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei has done for the school, notably that he has renovated the school building and provided tables and chairs for students.
CSS Principal Mr. Rufus Francis Kalaoga
“We thank him. He has given all the students books to write in their respective classes. May God Almighty grant him a long life and the opportunity to serve us for many more years—not just this tenure. Let the Almighty God enable him to serve a second term because we expect even more good things from him in Jesus’ name,” he prayed.
While commissioning the newly renovated school building on behalf of the honorable member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, Mr. Pere Alfred expressed delight at being in Enewari for this project.
“This is a representative government, and the good people of Enewari chose to elect one of their own in the person of Rodney Ambaiowei. Today, he has come to fulfill the mandate you bestowed upon him by renovating this facility and providing writing materials, including 20, 40, 60, and 80-leaf ‘not for sale’ notebooks, which we presented to the principal on November 29, 2024.”
Mr. Pere Alfred
“We also provided students’ desks, teachers’ tables, and chairs for the glory and benefit of the students and teachers. As the principal mentioned, may more years come, so that more dividends shall be delivered to the good people of Enewari, to the glory of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” he stated.
Responding on behalf of the community, a critical stakeholder and Director-General of the Center for Youth Development, Hon. Robert Igali, remarked, “I feel very elated, not forgetting that the community stood by the honorable member during the re-run election, which affected our community. The community did well to ensure that the votes cast were in his favor and aligned with our party, the PDP.”
“Knowing that the people supported him, one of the critical demands was to renovate Community Secondary School Enewari, and without wasting time, this project was completed within a little over a month. This highlights the regard the member of Parliament has for this community and for education.”
Hon. Robert Igali
“If we want to combat poverty, we must address its root causes. Without a conducive learning environment, we compromise the quality of education, and that’s what he has done. We want to thank him; this is my Alma Mater, and I’m grateful to have graduated in the class of 1996. We are very grateful as a community and as students.
You can see the students are very happy because it has provided a conducive learning environment for productive engagement. If we don’t take care of these young people, there can be no future. Without quality education, there’s no future. This community is intellectually driven; education is our priority, and that is why we are excelling in all areas.
We want to thank the member of parliament, believing wholeheartedly that when he returns for our votes during campaign season, the community will give him our full support.”
On what prompted these commendable projects and the choice of this community, Mr. Pere Alfred concluded that it fulfills the lawmaker’s campaign promises.
“As previously mentioned, during the re-run election, the community wholeheartedly delivered votes, leading to his election to the hallowed chambers. This visit was a promise he made as soon as he was sworn in; he returned without delay because this was one of the demands—to renovate the secondary school building, which was in deplorable condition. He did not only renovate it; he also provided all necessary materials to maintain the facility. Within a month, the renovation was completed, and today we are commissioning it.”
Regarding the commissioning of two projects in one day, Mr. Pere Alfred remarked that it was indeed incredible and demonstrated the dedication of the elected representative, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei.
“My spirit is overwhelmed. The tremendous support and warm welcome from the men, women, youth, chiefs, and students of Igeibiri and Enewari attest to the connection the man has with his constituents. He is doing exactly what they voted him to do, and he has not hidden anything from the people who elected him.
The connection between the man and the people is what the National Assembly is meant to foster, and he continues to connect with the people during the remaining years of his first term. By God’s grace, if he receives a second term, he will continue to do even more to serve them,” he enthused.
In the vibrant and dynamic polity of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, efforts to engage constituents and understand their needs are integral to effective leadership.
Recently, a notable voice calling for this engagement has emerged: Hon. Afro Mietoikumo Rufus Opuofoni, a critical stakeholder and the Coordinator of the Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei political movement in Ward 3.
During a New Year celebration organized by Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei in Yenagoa, Opuofoni articulated a powerful message in a chat with Erevision MediaTV, urging the representative to consult with the people of Ward 3 to better understand their needs and aspirations.
Celebrating Togetherness
Hon. Opuofoni expressed her gratitude towards Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei for bringing the community together during the festive season, emphasizing the importance of unity. “Look at this season; some are indoors, you can’t even go to their gates, but he made it possible for everyone to come to taste what the season is all about from him,” she stated.
This sentiment captures the essence of thoughtful leadership—a leader who prioritizes connection with the community and fosters an environment of inclusivity.
The gathering showcased the diverse fabric of the constituency, with representation from all corners—North, South, East, and West. Such events not only strengthen community ties but also offer an invaluable opportunity for leaders to hear directly from their constituents.
Consulting the Community’s Heart
Hon. Opuofoni stressed the importance of understanding the specific needs of Ward 3, which comprises six vibrant communities: Ikebiri, Korokorosei, Ondewari, Okpotuwari, Ikebiri II, and Ogbugbene. Her firm belief is that genuine engagement with the community will enable Hon. Ambaiowei to be a more effective representative. “I want him to consult the people of Ward 3 as our representative for him to be remembered tomorrow,” she urged.
This call for action reflects a broader desire for representatives to venture beyond traditional political approaches and immerse themselves in their communities.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead to 2025, Hon. Opuofoni expressed optimism about the impact Hon. Ambaiowei can have on his constituents. She encouraged him to reflect on past efforts while striving for continuous improvement. “I know 2025; he’ll do better than 2024 a lot,” she affirmed, showcasing her faith in his visionary leadership.
As we enter the new year, the significance of setting achievable goals based on community feedback becomes more pertinent.
Bridging the Gap
One of the central themes of Opuofoni’s message is the need for Hon. Ambaiowei to bridge gaps in understanding among the constituents.
Hon. Afro Mietoikumo Rufus Opuofoni who is also the “Yimie-embelemoere 1 of Amassoma, a title confered on her by Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei, highlighted that while her perspective is valuable, it is crucial to gather a broader range of opinions to represent the diverse voices within Ward 3 accurately. “He should come to the people—the people he’s representing—and know the desire of the people,” she stressed.
By fostering an inclusive dialogue, Hon. Ambaiowei can ensure that his initiatives are genuinely reflective of the community’s aspirations.
Conclusion: Leadership in Action
As Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency moves forward into 2025, the call from Hon. Afro Mietoikumo Rufus Opuofoni resonates profoundly: effective leadership is rooted in understanding and engaging with the people one represents. Hon. Ambaiowei has displayed commendable initiative by organizing gatherings that foster connectivity, yet the next step is to delve deeper into the unique needs of Ward 3.
By doing so, he can transform goodwill into meaningful action, ultimately fostering a thriving and responsive community.
In this era of heightened engagement and expectation, may the leaders of Southern Ijaw take inspiration from this call to listen, consult, and act in accordance with the voices of their constituents.
After all, true leadership is not merely about making promises but ensuring those promises resonate with the lived experiences and futures of the people.
